Pre-requisites:
The course is outdoors all weekend and involves quite a lot of walking and some light lifting.
Course Outline:
- Introduction to the horses, demonstration of horse care and tack.
- Explanation of the benefits of traditional methods of woodland management and the tools and equipment used.
- Demonstration and hands-on experience of long reining the horse.
- Learning about the wood arch and how to use it to extract timber.
- How to snig the logs ready for hauling.
- LOTS of long reining experience, starting with the basics and progressing over the weekend to develop skills.
This course is a learning opportunity and the pace is intended to ensure that everyone has the time to learn.
